When tragedy strikes, Seth Stewart is forced to return home after the death of his beloved father. The unexpected detour forces him to oversee the family’s auto shop and restaurant business, and Seth must kiss the prestigious internship goodbye after his first year at Berkeley Business School. When he collides with his first crush after his arrival, Seth wonders what possibly could have happened to Josefina Anders.

Josefina has hidden many secrets she is too ashamed to share with anyone, especially Seth. When they cross paths again, the urge to relive their past lingers in her mind even though she knows he couldn’t accept her sketchy past. Things get even more complicated when her mother returns, as well as her overly possessive ex, who decides to crash into her fragile existence all over again.

Will Seth’s connection for Josefina be strong enough to see past her secrets, or will he realize he can’t rekindle an old flame?

EllieSewSweet's Review ♡

I was able to connect with this story on a personal level. As a child after my parents divorce, I was sent back and forth between parents without any prior notice. It was very difficult and very a very emotional period of my life. Like Josie, my mother suffered from mental illness, depression, and it was hard to know what mood mom would be in each day. It is wonderful that Josie had Seth as a first young love. He was so sweet and kind even though he didn't know everything Josie was going through. It tugged at my heart when she disappeared from his life so suddenly and reminded me of my first sweetheart from 2nd grade and how I cried after my mom moved us away.
It sounds like Seth had the ideal family life growing up and I think it helped when he lost his dad. Although nothing can prepare you for losing a parent, Seth had family and good friends to be there for him and support him.
Amazingly, Josie comes back into his life and brings back feelings that he thought were gone forever. Josie has gone through her own hell with her mom and with an abusive boyfriend, but for some reason she does not share this with Seth. She seems to just want to enjoy the reserfaced feelings she has for him that she had to leave behind so long ago.
Together they have a lot to work out and figure out how to move forward from here.

I started writing Crossroads after my grandmother passed away.  When these characters came to life in my mind, along with the character Gamma, inspired by my grandmother, it was a way for me to heal.  I decided to start from a dream I had in high school, chapter one.  Chapter two is also based on my dream as well.  I didn’t think I would have much to write about, but when I made Claudia to be more like me, it was easy.  Her first car, her first job, her first experience at camping and her grandmother having a stroke was all part of me.  Too bad Michael wasn’t real…lol!!

Many people like Davin, which I’m really happy about because his character was inspired by my friend who passed away.  He was very likable and was a best friend to all his friends.  Patty is my friend from church.  She is exactly how I described her, social butterfly who knows everything about her friends and fashion.  I named Claudia after a student I once had many years ago.  I can still picture her face, just like an angel.  When I was much younger, I had a crush on a boy name Michael, but his character is based off my husband, protective, romantic, and silly at times.  No… he doesn’t have wings…lol!!!

Though I was busy with work, being a wife, a mother, and PTA president, I would always find time to write, even if that meant typing while I was cooking or brushing my teeth.  Crossroads was written for a fast, fun reading with likable characters.  Many have emailed me to let me know how Crossroads has helped them escaped from their everyday stress.  Also, how they’ve connected to this book because of chapter one, having a loved one passed away.

I took on a journey not knowing how rewarding it would be for me. I’ve meet so many wonderful people from all over the world through facebook, goodreads and blog sites.  I’ve made everlasting friendship where friendship knows no boundaries.  And I have to thank my grandmother who continues to watch over me from Heaven.

RELEASE DAY FOR THE GIRL I WAS BEFORE BY GINGER SCOTT

Synopsis:
I’m the selfish one. I suppose that’s the nicest thing people say about me. I’ve heard the other things, too. “Paige Owens is a pretty girl with nothing else to offer. She’s just a good time at a party. She’s stupid, heartless, cold and useless. All she cares about is getting a guy to look at her. Why would anyone want to be her friend?”
Some of those things are true. Others were true. They’re all hurtful.
None of it matters.
I’m ready to make the hard choices. I’m ready to face the consequences. I’m ready to be the girl I was before, and I’m done being the one who lost her way.
I’m ready to become the girl Houston Orr sees when he looks at me.
Houston isn’t a star athlete. He doesn’t play in a band. He’s never going to be president, and his life is so far away from simple and easy it isn’t even funny.
He wasn’t part of my plan. But I’m starting to think plans are overrated, and maybe our stories are what we make them. And mine depends entirely on me, and the choices I make…starting now.
Houston is my fairytale. He’s perfectly imperfect. He’s poetry and life. He’s truth and heartbreak, all rolled up in a tall body with dark hair, broad shoulders and green eyes that lull me into submission. He’s nothing I ever thought I wanted, but the very thing I need. He’s the only guy I’ve ever really loved, and he thinks I’m a princess. I fell into him, and now I’m holding on.
But sometimes life takes away our ability to choose. Sometimes…things aren’t in your control. Sometimes, it hurts to be selfless. My only hope is that when it comes time to choose, I get it right.
Welcome to my once upon a time and wish for happily ever after.
Excerpt:
I like you. I don’t wanna like you. But I do.
I have been repeating her words in my own head since I heard them. I’ve been saying them like a mantra because of that part of me that doesn’t want her to like me either. Because if she likes me, then maybe how I feel is okay too, and maybe acting on it is okay, and then shit gets real. What does that even mean? Shit gets real? Shit gets hard—that’s what it means. Real hard. I have to make time for someone else; I have to take a leap of faith and risk that my world will fall apart again. That’s what that means.
“I like you too, Paige,” I whisper. “And fuck if I don’t want to. But I do.”
I take a few seconds to jog in place, stretching my neck from side to side like I’m about to step into a fight. Maybe I am. But fuck it, shit got real a long time ago. What do I have to lose now?
“I’m not looking, I swear,” I say, keeping my eyes at the floor as I barge into the bathroom. I cannot believe I’m doing this.
“Out!” she yells from behind the shower curtain. “Not even funny. Not even clever. Out, you fuck stick, out!”
Her anger makes me laugh, and fuck stick? Really?
“I have to brush my teeth. We’re pushing it close on time. I’ll be fast, and I’ll keep my face forward. I swear,” I say.
I’ve already brushed my teeth, but she doesn’t know that. I turn on the water and load up my brush. I hear the curtain slide behind me, and I know she’s looking at me. I don’t have to turn around or look into the reflection to know what her face looks like—her brow is furrowed and her lips are tight, and she’s making sure I’m keeping my promise. Don’t worry Paige; I won’t look. But I know you want me to.
I’m spitting into the sink and reaching for the towel by feeling, careful not to glance up, when I hear the water switch off and the curtain slide open. There’s no towel near her or the tub; I know it because I see them hanging on the rack several steps away. She’s cheating.
I notice her shape move into my periphery to my right, and I glance briefly to catch her hand reach for the towel. When I see her back is to me, I go ahead and look long enough to take a mental picture. Her hair is soaking wet and dripping a line down her perfectly sun-kissed skin, a trail of water I let my eyes follow down her shoulder blades, to the small of her back, to an ass that is so perfect I wish I were the kind of asshole who would reach out and smack it at a time like this. I just hold my breath and memorize it instead. I turn back to the sink, lay my towel down, and move to leave.
“You looked,” she says, and I pause with my hand on the doorknob, the curves of her body now ingrained in my memory. I smile.
“Yeah, I did,” I say, before stepping into the hallway and shutting the door behind me.

ELLIESEWSWEET'S REVIEW

The Girl I Was Before (Falling, #3)The Girl I Was Before by Ginger Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am a little bias because I love Ginger's style of New Adult books, but I wasn't sure about reading a whole book about Paige. Boy was I wrong, about the book and about Paige. I was expecting a snotty and snarky story told from Paige's POV and that is exactly what I got. The twist is seeing the why and how Paige is the way she is and that she is just as vulnerable and insecure as anyone else going to college and trying to fit in. It is not so easy to live up to everyone's expectations, good or bad, including her own.
Houston is not your typical college student staying out all night partying, chasing women just to get some, not is he the typical jock or frat boy. He is the "sandwich boy" working at the deli near the campus, and just another annoying person to Paige, although she can't deny his amazing physique. I think his charm just might win her over if she can get over the fact that her boyfriend is a real tool!
What emerges from the peek inside the minds of Paige and Houston is unexpected and real. They really are not what you think they are and their story is complicated, difficult and very beautiful.

It's been an intoxicating ride until he meets Kathryn Delcour, an alluring socialite with unique erotic tastes. Adam finds this complex woman too tempting to resist and will stop at nothing to have her, yet she is warned to stay away from him and his player ways. The Agreement by S.E. Lund Kate McDermott is a Journalism graduate student writing an article about BDSM in popular culture. It's just research & nothing personal. Really. Drake Morgan, MD, is a Neurosurgeon, bass player, philanthropist & Dominant. He doesn't do girlfriends, sleepovers, & he certainly doesn't do breakfast in bed the morning after. Ever. When the two meet for an interview, Kate hopes the carefully worded agreement she draws up will keep their relationship strictly professional. Big mistake…

Devour Me by Kailin Gow Taryn Cummings could not believe she was accepted into the prestigious International Institute of Culinary Arts culinary institute she dreamed of studying at in beautiful Paris, France. It was a far cry from her unglamorous life back home in New York where she helped her mother run their small family-owned restaurant called Sam's. The Institute churned out the top chefs in the world, including the wildly sexy and eccentric Master Chef, Errol King, whose celebrity personality was larger than life. She wanted excitement in a city of romance and thrills, but arrived to find her apartment barely livable and herself in need of a suitable place to stay. A chance meeting at the Institute brings her face-to-face with her new roommate...the devilishly charming Errol King, who would be guest teaching her class this term. The attraction is as hot as the fire they cook with, and while Errol King, the notorious bad boy chef with an attitude, can get anyone he wanted into his bed, he wanted this woman more than anything. Something about her sweet innocence and sad eyes reach into his harden heart, but is it enough for him to forget his past?

Vital Sign by J.L. Mac My world was perfect, until it wasn’t. I fell fast and hard straight into the fiery pits of hell, my past a bittersweet torture that never went away; the sadness, eating away at my soul. My life is empty. No meaning. No hope. No vital sign. *** Despite her general indifference to organ donation, Sadie sets out to heal by finding those who benefited from her husband’s tragic death, but instead of peace, finds only jealousy and rage. Though Sadie hates Alexander McBride for his health, he soothes her grief in ways that are intoxicating; addictive even. Can she learn to love the man who now owns the heart that used to beat just for her? If she has any hope of overcoming her all consuming grief, he must convince her that it still does.

Searching for Moore by Julie Richman I lost the love of my life when she disappeared without even a goodbye. It was the 80’s – there was no internet, no Google, no cell phones. If you wanted to disappear, you could. And she did. She crushed my soul. A friend just told me he saw her on Facebook. And now I’m a keystroke away from asking her the question that’s haunted me for two decades. “Why did you leave me?” Sexy entrepreneur Schooner Moore receives the birthday bombshell of a lifetime - his true love, college girlfriend Mia Silver, the girl who broke his heart when she fled without even a goodbye at the end of their freshman year, has been seen on Facebook. Now 24 years later, Schooner discovers the truth behind what drove Mia from him as he tries to once again win her love.

Gemini by Penelope Ward Diner waitress Allison had no idea her mundane life was about to dramatically change the day she serves a devastatingly handsome customer. After he abruptly leaves the restaurant, she can’t get him out of her head. She has no idea that he had actually come on a mission to find her. Cedric wasn’t expecting to fall in love at first sight with the pretty waitress he’d set out to find. In fact, she was the last woman on Earth he should be having feelings for. Before revealing himself, he makes her believe their meetings are coincidental. Cedric’s lies and secrets are finally revealed, changing both of their lives forever.

Angel After Dark by Kahlen Aymes Gorgeous, hotshot executive, Alexander Avery, is all business and doesn’t believe in love. He bases his relationships on mutual convenience and makes no apologies for his lifestyle or his choices. When his on-the-way-out girlfriend calls into a late night radio program to whine about his treatment of her, he is angrier at the host’s advice, than the inconsequential woman’s bitch-fest. Psychologist Angeline Hemming has little tolerance for bullshit, so when Alex calls into her show a week later to give his side of the story, she calls him out on his excuses, and um… habits. When they finally meet, their sexual chemistry and mental connection leaves them both reeling, as they take their fight… to the mattresses! A sizzling hot, smart, funny, & suspenseful 5 star throw-down you won’t want to miss from the USA Today bestselling author of The Remembrance Trilogy!

Belong to You by Vi Keeland My honeymoon was almost everything I dreamed it would be; a tropical paradise, turquoise water, romantic walks on the beach, and loads and loads of mind shattering sex. The only thing missing was the groom. After seven years of coasting through a relationship with Michael, my senses were numb. A week of passion with a stranger was just what I needed to clear my head and take back control of my life. But how do you move on when the man that was only supposed to be a fling somehow seeps into your soul and steals your heart?
