MY SERENITY
by M. Clarke

AmazoniBooksGoogleB&NKobo Books

When tragedy strikes, Seth Stewart is forced to return home after the death of his beloved father. The unexpected detour forces him to oversee the family’s auto shop and restaurant business, and Seth must kiss the prestigious internship goodbye after his first year at Berkeley Business School. When he collides with his first crush after his arrival, Seth wonders what possibly could have happened to Josefina Anders.

Josefina has hidden many secrets she is too ashamed to share with anyone, especially Seth. When they cross paths again, the urge to relive their past lingers in her mind even though she knows he couldn’t accept her sketchy past. Things get even more complicated when her mother returns, as well as her overly possessive ex, who decides to crash into her fragile existence all over again.

Will Seth’s connection for Josefina be strong enough to see past her secrets, or will he realize he can’t rekindle an old flame?

EllieSewSweet's Review ♡

I was able to connect with this story on a personal level. As a child after my parents divorce, I was sent back and forth between parents without any prior notice. It was very difficult and very a very emotional period of my life. Like Josie, my mother suffered from mental illness, depression, and it was hard to know what mood mom would be in each day. It is wonderful that Josie had Seth as a first young love. He was so sweet and kind even though he didn't know everything Josie was going through. It tugged at my heart when she disappeared from his life so suddenly and reminded me of my first sweetheart from 2nd grade and how I cried after my mom moved us away.
It sounds like Seth had the ideal family life growing up and I think it helped when he lost his dad. Although nothing can prepare you for losing a parent, Seth had family and good friends to be there for him and support him.
Amazingly, Josie comes back into his life and brings back feelings that he thought were gone forever. Josie has gone through her own hell with her mom and with an abusive boyfriend, but for some reason she does not share this with Seth. She seems to just want to enjoy the reserfaced feelings she has for him that she had to leave behind so long ago.
Together they have a lot to work out and figure out how to move forward from here.

I started writing Crossroads after my grandmother passed away.  When these characters came to life in my mind, along with the character Gamma, inspired by my grandmother, it was a way for me to heal.  I decided to start from a dream I had in high school, chapter one.  Chapter two is also based on my dream as well.  I didn’t think I would have much to write about, but when I made Claudia to be more like me, it was easy.  Her first car, her first job, her first experience at camping and her grandmother having a stroke was all part of me.  Too bad Michael wasn’t real…lol!!

Many people like Davin, which I’m really happy about because his character was inspired by my friend who passed away.  He was very likable and was a best friend to all his friends.  Patty is my friend from church.  She is exactly how I described her, social butterfly who knows everything about her friends and fashion.  I named Claudia after a student I once had many years ago.  I can still picture her face, just like an angel.  When I was much younger, I had a crush on a boy name Michael, but his character is based off my husband, protective, romantic, and silly at times.  No… he doesn’t have wings…lol!!!

Though I was busy with work, being a wife, a mother, and PTA president, I would always find time to write, even if that meant typing while I was cooking or brushing my teeth.  Crossroads was written for a fast, fun reading with likable characters.  Many have emailed me to let me know how Crossroads has helped them escaped from their everyday stress.  Also, how they’ve connected to this book because of chapter one, having a loved one passed away.

I took on a journey not knowing how rewarding it would be for me. I’ve meet so many wonderful people from all over the world through facebook, goodreads and blog sites.  I’ve made everlasting friendship where friendship knows no boundaries.  And I have to thank my grandmother who continues to watch over me from Heaven.

Cover Release for Wild Reckless By Ginger Scott

Cover Release for

 Wild Reckless

by Ginger Scott

Hosted by Wordsmith Publicity

Wild Reckless is a Very Mature

YA Contemporary Romance

With A Release Date of March 17, 2015

SYNOPSIS

Kensington Worth had a vision for her senior year. It involved her best friends, her posh private school in downtown Chicago and time alone with her piano until her audition was perfected, a guaranteed ticket into the best music programs in the world.
Instead, a nightmare took over.
It didn’t happen all at once, but her life unraveled quickly—a tiny thread that evil somehow kept pulling until everything precious was taken from her. She was suddenly living miles away from her old life, trapped in an existence she didn’t choose—one determined to destroy her from the inside, leaving only hate and anger behind. It didn’t help that her neighbor, the one whose eyes held danger, was enjoying every second of her fall.
Owen Harper was trouble, his heart wild and his past the kind that’s spoken about in whispers. And somehow, his path was always intertwined with Kensington’s, every interaction crushing her, ruining her hope for any future better than her now. Sometimes, though, what everyone warns is trouble, is exactly what the heart needs. Owen Harper was consumed with darkness, and it held onto his soul for years. When Kensington looked at him, she saw a boy who’d gotten good at taking others down when they threatened his carefully balanced life. But the more she looked, the more she saw other things too—good things…things to admire.
Things…to love. Things that made her want to be reckless.

And those things…they were the scariest of all.

Excerpt

I know I shouldn’t, but I turn around anyway, and I give Owen my full,

undivided attention. His friends have already left, and he’s slowly

walking backwards, showing me his middle finger and smiling with that

faint half-grin I’ve seen far too often over the last three days.

I don’t know what makes me do it. In fact, I don’t know why I am the way I
am with Owen. I’ve been careful and timid and obedient my entire life, my
only mission to please everyone—please my father, Chen, my mother, my
friends, my teachers. Please, please, please, please, please. That’s all I
do. And all it’s done for me is land me in Woodstock, away from my friends
and the senior year I was expecting to have. I’m not pleasing Owen Harper,
too. So I stand with my tray and raise my arm slowly by my side, my eyes
zeroed in on his until I’m pointing at him. I close one eye and cock my
head slightly to the right, like I’m making sure I have him in my
sights—and then I pull the trigger.

“Jesus H Christ, Kensi! What’s wrong with you?” Willow asks. She pulls my

arm back down, but I keep my eyes on Owen, staring into his gray-blue

eyes—eyes that look like a wolf’s. “What are you doing?”

“I’m starting a war, Willow,” I say, my heart speeding up and my breath
growing more ragged as reality catches up with me.

I’m starting a war with a guy who doesn’t lose; a guy who doesn’t play by
the rules.

A guy who scares me, and who knows where I sleep at night.

EXTRA SWEET REVIEWS FROM

ELLIESEWSWEET

I had the privilege of reading and reviewing two of Ginger Scott's books

First, I had to remember how to breathe. Then, I had to learn how to survive. Two years, three months and sixteen days had passed since I was the Rowe Stanton from before, since tragedy stole my youth and my heart went along with it.
When I left for college, I put a thousand miles between my future and my past. I’d made a choice—I was going to cross back to the other side, to live with the living. I just didn’t know how.
And then I met Nate Preeter.
An All-American baseball player, Nate wasn’t supposed to notice a ghost-of-a-girl like me. But he did. He shouldn’t want to know my name. But he did. And when he learned my secret and saw the scars it left behind, he was supposed to run. But he didn’t.
My heart was dead, and I was never supposed to belong to anyone. But Nate Preeter had me feeling, and he made me want to be his. He showed me everything I was missing.
And then he showed me how to fall.
AND

I’m that teenaged girl who has MS. You haven’t met me, but you’ve seen me around. You probably know my sister. We’re twins, and she’s the pretty one. Maybe you’ve heard about my reputation, how much I like to hook up at parties—how easy it is to get me in bed, get what you want, and forget about me after.
Forget what you think you know. I’m leaving that girl behind.
College is all about new beginnings. So from now on—I’m just Cass. And the rest…it isn’t written yet. And no one else gets to write my story for me.

--------

“Tyson Preeter doesn’t do can’t.”
That’s exactly what I want people to think when they see me. I am strong, invincible, confident, intelligent—arrogant. I’m the man who always finds a way around, over and through—until there’s nothing left. Since losing my ability to walk six years ago, I’ve relearned life. I don’t need sympathy. I don’t want charity. And I don’t do love.
It’s better this way, saves my disappointments for me, and me alone, and it saves my strength for everything I want.
But Cass Owens is about to wreck everything. She’s about to steal all of my strength away from me, because she needs it more. She’s about to break all of my rules, and break down all of my walls. She’s about to own me…completely.
And I’m about to let her.

Review:
I happened to read the second book, You and Everything After, first. I think it would be okay to read them either way. It is basically the same story told from two completely different points of view from two different couples, which was nice to watch each relationship develop separately. Ty and Cass' story is told in book two and was more hot and heavy like most college relationships are along with very strong feelings and arguments and miscommunications. Nate and Rowe' s story is told in book one, although I'm kind of glad I read it second. It was more intense, more delicate and slower paced, but for good reason. Both relationships also have a very comical bantering going on and some great college pranks pulled.
Overall, I really enjoyed both books, but my sweet spot was Nate and Rowe' s story. It pulled at my heart strings in such a good way.

Review of Crossroads and Between by Mary Ting plus a giveaway from LateBloomerOnline

Just in case you haven't read Mary Ting's first book, Crossroads, here is the Goodreads synopsis:

Claudia Emerson has a good friend who shares the same first name and last name. That friend unfortunately dies in a tragic accident during homecoming dance. Claudia is distraught at the loss of her friend, but is even more disturbed by her dreams, which seem to take her to another place called Crossroads. Unknown to her, Crossroads is like a second heaven, a place between heaven and earth. It is where the souls of humans in comas or near death experiences may wander. Where, Claudia meets Michael, a nephilim, a half angel, half human, whom she often meets in her dreams. It turns out that this isn’t her first visit to Crossroads, which is an enigma for no human can ever travel there until Claudia.

Now the fallen and demons are after her, suspecting she must be special and it is up to Michael and the other nephilims to protect her. Her dream becomes a nightmare as more secrets are revealed, about who she really is, and the true identities of the people she loves most. Can Michael fight his growing feelings for Claudia and protect her as a guardian angel should?

And my review as posted on Goodreads, Amazon, and Barnes And Noble

Wow! This book is totally left open for much, much more, which is exciting because I love books in a series! I can't wait to see Claudia open up and blossom into the full being she can be! I think there is way more to Austin's story than is given in the book. I see a great triangle brewing here. If you remember, Gamma said she sent someone to watch over Claudia and Michael didn't know that! I can not wait to learn more about the Alkins, Michael's friends. I want to know so much more about their personalities and see how they show themselves when they are on Earth. It seems this is the only place they can let themselves "shine" and fall into old habits that they don't remember they had! Michael seems to be a rebel by following his own instincts while trying to be a good leader and follow the laws of the Royal Council. He is torn by what he should do and what his half human heart longs for. As far as the fallen are concerned, as we all know, if one leader dies, there is always another to take his place!
I have read a lot of books about angels and heaven, but not in a fiction setting. It's nice to see that Mary blends from the "real" to the fictional heavenly worlds very smoothly. It is wonderful to be reading a fictional book about a subject I enjoy researching and believe in with all my heart and soul!

Here is my favorite excerpt from Crossroads, page 218:

"...You are my gift.  I never dreamt that I would feel this way.  You make me feel human again.  You make me smile.  You make me laugh.  I've broken some Divine Commandments, but I don't care because it doesn't feel wrong to me.  How would something that feels so right be so wrong?  I will treasure every second we have together, even if it's for a short period of time.  These happy memories you are giving me are worth it all.  I promise to protect you and even lose my soul if I have to.  I will not lose you to Aden or anyone else.  If that happens, I will have lost myself."
As said by Michael to Claudia

And now, Between!

As the alkins head back to Crossroads, Claudia leads her normal life; but not for long. Having a special soul, Claudia attracts danger, and she soon finds out who Gamma asked to watch over her. The Twelve, known as Divine Elders on Earth, are very much involved when they find out that Aliah, one of the God’s first angels, escaped from the Abyss when the gates were opened by Aden. Needing Claudia’s soul to escape the only place Aliah can reside–a place between Heaven and Earth–he sends his demons in search of all Claudia Emersons on Earth. Taking her soul will enable him to be released from Between and cross over to Crossroads, which would give him immense power. As more secrets are revealed Claudia learns about the venators—nephilim, demon hunters. Now two opposing forces must work together in order to save Claudia and humanity from the most dangerous angel ever created. But along the way, trust becomes a big issue. Will love be enough to keep Claudia and Michael together? Who will make the ultimate sacrifice? Who will betray them all?
(Goodreads synopsis)

My Review as seen on Goodreads, Amazon and Barnes and Noble:

The world Mary has created from her dreams has sucked me in and made me feel a part of it!  I LOVE the characters.  She has made me feel as if they are my best friends!  On the outside, Claudia looks and acts like your typical teenage girl, but unknowingly, she is really so much more!  This is what you are going to find with many of Mary's characters, that there is so much more to know!
There are the Humans that aren't quite human, the Angels that aren't quite all angel and the Demons that used to be angels!  So, once you think you've got it all down, it gets shaken up all over again!
What is nice about Mary's writing is that you don't need a scorecard of who's who to follow along.  Each character has been given such a unique personality that let me create a clear picture in my mind of who they are and what they look like.  Aside from my "forbidden love" power couple, Michael and Claudia, I think my favorite character is Davin.  He is everybody's all-american angel.  The first with the quick wit, bright smile and always a funny quip on his lips!

Mary has done it again!  She has brought back my favorite Angels, brought back my friends!
Once again, Claudia's life is in peril, but unknown to the Fallen (and even to the Angels or herself) she is stronger than anyone could ever imagine her to be!

Here is my favorite excerpt from Between chapter 26:

Michael drew her out and looked deeply into her eyes.  "Claudia, only for you.  I can't feel the wind on my flesh or heat from the blazing sun, but I can feel you.  You are real.  I can feel you."
Claudia held him tight to let him know how much his words meant to her.  Like always, there were no words, but she felt his love for her that made her utterly complete."

Question and Answers with Author Mary Ting

I know you've said that Crossroads came from one of your dreams. I also have very vivid dreams that play like movies. Do you feel these dreams are given to us by divine means since they tell a story? Do you keep a journal of your dreams? Have you used automatic writing?

I believe dreams can be given by divine means. In Crossroads chapter one, having been told in my dream to go back because it wasn’t my time couldn’t come from anyone but someone divine...that’s what I think. I should keep a journal of my dreams, but I don’t... lol!! It would make description easier. In Between, chapter 20 and what happens to Austin is part of my dream. I woke up from a nightmare being really scared. Immediately I calmed down when a thought occurred...to put this nightmare in Between. I can’t wait for you to read it. You’ll be surprised that I would dream about something like that...lol!!! I also dreamt that I was flying and I saw the most beautiful place. In Between, I called it Island of Eden. Later in book 3, I will go into details of that place. No, I have not used automatic writing.

Do you believe there is a place like Crossroads that we can visit in our dreams using astral projection? There are places I visit in my dreams that feel so real.

I have to say yes to that question. As strange as it may sound, I remember clearly that I felt a jerk when I woke up from being at a place like Crossroads in my dream. Sometimes I fly in my dreams...lol!!!

Have your religious beliefs changed at all since your youth and what religion you were raised in? Do you feel you are reaching for Christian Youth in your book, or just wholesome romance?

I was born and raised as a Catholic. I was very much involved in my church youth group up until I went to college. From then on, I stopped going because the church I used to attend was too far. All of my friends went their separate ways. I keep in touch with a few, but life happens and you move on. My belief hasn’t changed; I just stopped going to church. My intention of writing Crossroads was not to reach out to any audience except for myself. At first, I wrote to help heal the loss of my grandmother; Gamma is based on her. In some ways, Crossroads is based on what I went through, first job, first car, first time camping and others, but too bad the angels in Crossroads are fictional..lol!!!

In Crossroads, Claudia's Mom reminds her, Be good to those who are alive, what good is it when they are dead. This sounds like John Edward's philosophy. Do you feel we all can communicate with our loved ones that have passed away? Do you still talk to your Grandmother?
I believe our loved ones that have passed away communicate in our dreams. Many fans/friends have told me that they’ve seen their loved ones in their dreams to let them know they are happy and well. It’s been awhile since my grandmother appeared in my dream. Every time I saw her, I ended up bawling and waking up. The last time she told me that she would stop appearing in my dream, but she couldn’t stay away. Instead, she called me on the phone in my dream...lol!!!

In Crossroads, Claudia's inner strength is tested. Will we see her come into her own strength and become more angelic?
You will see Claudia’s struggle and trying to live a normal life, but at the same time trying to fulfill her destiny. I’m trying not to spoil anything here...lol!!!

So we find out that Claudia is part angel. Will this mean she can be with Michael?
This is very complicated...lol!!! Well... you do find out what happens in Between.
Do we see a love triangle coming up soon?
Yes, but it’s complicated...lol!!!

The Alkins were removed from Earth and had their memories of it erased and can't stay away from Crossroads for very long, yet the Venators (demon hunters) don't seen to have a problem being on Earth and are allowed to experience Earth fully. Then there are the Earth Angels who act as if they are human to watch over us. Why the different rules for the different types of angels?

I explain in the beginning of Between that God sent angels called watchers. The temptation was too difficult to bear and half angels and half humans were created. He wiped the Earth with a flood over 40 days and 40 nights. Then he sent Earth angels, but again, nephilims were created. Instead of cleansing the Earth, they were taken to a place called Crossroads. As time passed, more nephilims were born. Some are from Aden’s doing and some are from the Earth angels. Katherine looks for these angels so she can properly trained them before they become a fallen. These nephilims are known as the venators. They hunt for demons-spirits that take over the weaken souls. Why the different rules? They were born in different times. The angels have assimilated into the culture of the present.
